The start.

The start.

I've allowed myself to pursue this "witchy thing" (which I don't really know how to best define) for a few months, and honestly, this has only happened in my mind so far. Oh, don't get me wrong, I've visited my local crystal shop a few times, went to a psychic expo, bought some runes, a few tarot decks and even had a tarot reading done.

Getting to this place has taken an enormous amount of mental energy; shedding all the taboos and fears that being under evangelical Christianity pressed on me.

I am proud of myself; allowing myself to experience and feel the same things that I did as child driving through the American southwest.[1]

Wife and did sign up for a kind of magic of the month service for a few months where they send you some ingredients (components?) for some rituals or spells. That was a positive experience.

I also did start reading Year of the Witch: Connecting with Nature's Seasons through Intuitive Magick, which is also from that Humble Bundle package I got a while back, and also seems to have some negative(?) reviews.[2] My luck hasn't been great with that bundle so far, I might need to get specific recommendations from my local shop.

Things I am still thinking about as I embark on this with more purpose:

  • Sigil work - I did one as part of the previously mentioned magic of the month exercizes. I very much enjoyed the process.
  • What is my craft? I have started sewing, which I love, so it will likely be something along those lines.

I may go buy some physical books soon; as ready PDFs on the ol' iPad isn't doing it for me.
