Not all decks are equal, I’m finding.

Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack

My wife and recently recorded my first tarot pull recently, this left me wanting a little more. After that first pull, I began to do some refection and research. It didn't take too much time, to realize a real deficiency in that deck.

Suit of Cloaks (top), Suit of Latinum (left) and the Suit of Bat'leths (right)

While each card has an entry in the supplied guidebook, there is little difference between, say, the 8th of Latinum and the 9th of Latinum visually. The Suit of Cloaks has a planet icon that seems to show a planetary phase, but little is made mention in the guidebook.

I imagine this might be suitable for a young tarot reader, but might not be sufficient for those that might want to contemplate some of the imagery. Even down to the the color of the cards might make a difference. Have a look at this video for more details:

Because I love visual mediums of art, I do think that I will outgrow(?) the Star Trek: TNG deck I have, as I love the idea that the Raider-Waite-Smith deck was created with overall intentions as well as individual ones.

So what do you think? How do you rely on the visual medium of your tarot decks?
