#dropm78 Challenge

Starting this years #dropm78 challenge for 2024.

#dropm78 Challenge
Ace of Pentacles - The Rider Tarot Deck, US Games version.

I am new to tarot, and I recently found out about this thing called the #dropm78 challenge. It's where you consider a card a day (for 78 days) from a tarot deck (or oracle system) you are looking to get more familiar with. Here is the intro video.

Here is the acronym:

  • Drop anchor with the pentacles
  • Respond with the wands
  • Open with the cups
  • Pierce through with the swords
  • Manifesting with the majors

Each day, consider the 3D format; Definition, Detail, Day. This year Esther has included a forth "D", Discovery. Which uses another tarot deck to help calibrate you understanding of the target deck of the challenge. Described more here. I won't be doing the 4th D.

Here we go for the first day, Ace of Pentacles.

Definition

From the guidebook: Perfect contentment, felicity, ecstasy—also speedy intelligence, gold.

Reversed: The evil side of wealth, bad intelligence. Also great riches.

Detail

I will have to say, as this is the first time that I have spent a length of time with any deck, any detail is going to be a new detail to me. The one that jumps out most I imagine; is the size of the had holding the pentacle. It screams abundance to me, as well as the idea that it is holding the sun as well, or perhaps is the sun, giving a sense of life-force.

Day

Today, Oct 15. I had a family event for the youngest of our little tribe. It was an event that had a sense of finality to me; it was a last-of-these kind of events. I had a sense of completion and fullness; very representative of the kind of contentment and completion this card might represent.
